Today is the first Independence Day where our gay and lesbian soldiers can celebrate their freedom concerning their sexuality. It is the first Independence Day since Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was repealed. In honor of that and the sacrifice that they have made for me, I’m posting this on my blog.

You all had to remain in the closet far longer than I did, while still choosing to fight for a country that was forcing you to remain silent. You deserve this day.
